Laughter improves blood circulation. 

When you laugh, the inner walls of your arteries expand, making it easier for the blood to flow through your body.  Good blood circulation will definitely have great effects on your heart and reduce any risk of heart diseases.  Moreover, the effect of laughing continues even after you laugh as the blood pressure drops back to its baseline, which has a relaxing effect and is very good for your blood pressure.

Laughter is a natural painkiller. 

Laughing cues our pituitary gland to produce our body’s natural painkillers – the opiates.  Studies show that people who are exposed to funny shows are able to relax more and tolerate the pain they feel compared to people who watch drama or serious films.  When we laugh, the body also promotes a good production of endorphins – our body’s feel-good chemicals that help relieve pain and make us feel relaxed.

Laughter boosts the immune system. 

Exposure to stress weakens the body’s immune system, making it at-risk of contacting diseases.  When you laugh, it reduces the body’s stress hormones, which results in improved immune system performance.  One of the most important health benefits of laughter is it also increases the level of antibodies that fight against infections and diseases.

This is the best and easiest workout you can ever do that doesn’t require a lot of effort but involves a lot of fun.  One of the health benefits of laughter is that it makes your stomach muscles expand and contract, which is very similar to the effect of the exercises you do that tone your abs.  On top of that, laughter is also a great way to burn calories.  Not only are you getting fit, but you also feel happier.

Laughter makes you look younger. 

All the muscles involved when you laugh work to make sure that the blood flow increases and the circulation of all nutrients are improved.  Laughing also increases oxygen intake, which energizes the mind and the body.  The contraction of muscles around your face will make you look younger, healthier, and definitely happier.

Nothing can be more contagious than laughter, so go ahead and laugh.  The more you laugh, the more happiness and wellness you bring into your life!
